Combining Traditions and Latest Innovations

(April 25-29, 2016, Hanover, Germany) The German American Aviation Heritage Foundation (GAAHF) was represented at this year’s Hannover Messe, the world’s leading trade fair for industrial technology. The United States made its debut as the Partner Country this year, showcasing itself as a great destination for foreign investment and as one of the world’s leading manufacturers. The trade show hosted over 5,000 exhibitors from over 100 countries worldwide. Approximately 200,000 visitors from all over the world came to Hannover, Germany to see the exhibition. President Obama joined German Chancellor Angela Merkel at the fair’s official opening ceremony on April 24 and gave a keynote speech. On April 25, President Obama joined Mrs. Merkel on the traditional opening tour of the fair.

The Lufthansa Group was presented in the U.S. Investment Pavilion alongside its joint venture partner United Airlines. GAAHF Chairman Mr. Bernhard Conrad showed the special features of the legendary Lockheed Super Star to the fascinated visitors. He also highlighted the Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) + Arts activities that GAAHF will initiate to engage the young generation in hands-on experiences and inspire them to explore career opportunities in aerospace and aviation.

“The German American Aviation Heritage Foundation, Lufthansa’s first nonprofit corporation based in the United States, celebrates the friendship between our two countries and the great achievements that we have accomplished together. The spirit for innovation that is omnipresent at the Hannover Messe is what we strive for, alongside with honoring our traditions and history”.
